Apple announced Thursday morning that their spring press event will take place on March 21 in Cupertino. The backdrop to this year's event is a high-stakes legal dispute with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Obama administration, which has chafed at Apple's use of encryption that make its customers' data unreadable to others. Rumors suggest it'll be powered by an A9 SoC alongside an M9 chip and feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, Live Photo capabilities, NFC for Apple Pay and the latest Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular hardware. Though do expect some new colors for Sports and Hermese bands and a black color for the Milanese Loop. Think about it as a smaller iPad Pro dubbed as iPad Air 3.
The rumors that the iPhone 7 may not have a headphone jack are nothing new, and some third party producers have been reporting that they are ramping up production of bluetooth headsets and even cases which utilize the lightning port to allow a headphone connection.
The OnLeaks Twitter account has been remarkably ahead of the curve for many mobile phone rumors, notably including some Galaxy S7 and iPhone 6S renders. More likely, it'll be the iPhone SE or 5SE, and it'll be (in Apple terms) one of their budget handsets, and not a huge beast of a phone, sitting at the lower end of their range.
The Apple iPhone SE (Special Edition) will be a 4-inch iPhone that will be priced around $400 to $500. Apple has been known to innovate their offerings over time, and the company is now all set to hold a new Apple Event. It is also rumored that Apple could cut the recommended retail price for iPhone 5S by a half during the event. This feature was rolled out with iOS 9 in 2015.
The overall design is said to be more like 6S and 6.
There's one feature that may be missing, i.e. the 3D Touch.
Tech blog MacOtakara claim the iPhone 7 will measure 6.1mm in thickness, which is 1mm thinner than its predecessor. It will be available in Space Grey, Gold, Silver, and a possible variant in Rose Gold color. This is not good news for users who were looking towards the company in the hope of significant design changes to the upcoming flagship. He is also expected to reveal a few other devices including the highly anticipated Apple Watch 2 though it has not been confirmed.
